Her early successes in the performing arts, that is now known as Maureen O'Hara, would certainly be a qualifier to her place in the "child prodigy" category. For a child with Irish origins, who was surrounded she was by gifted parents, and her family, this came naturally. Maureen was welcomed into the safe haven of her parents on August 17 1920 at Ranelagh (a suburb within Dublin), Ireland. Marguerita LIlburn FitzSimons is her mom. She was a accomplished contralto. Charles FitzSimons managed a Dublin-based firm and also owned a stake in "The Shamrock Rovers," an eminent Irish soccer squad. Maureen FitzSimons was the second FitzSimons child. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara made up this family. Maureen excelled as a sportswoman and played rough, athletic sports when she was a young. Furthermore she was gifted to act. Her winning of almost all the Feis awards for her native country's drama and theatre performances was a testament to the fact that she was a natural performer. At the age of 14, she was accepted to the highly acclaimed Abbey Theater and pursued her dream of classical theater as well as operatic vocals.
